Beware Don’t Miss Your Flight

An investigation by Which has revealed that some airlines are routinely cancelling return flights if the outbound flight is missed. Airlines using this “small print” tactic include Virgin, KLM and British Airways. To add insult to injury, they are not refunding the passenger for the cancelled trip. If they resell the seat, the airline is effectively being paid twice.

Which? managing director of home products and services Alex Neill said: “Missing a flight because you’re stuck in traffic or on a delayed train is frustrating enough, but for the airline to then turn around and say your return journey is cancelled as well is completely unfair and unjustified.

Some passengers it  is reported were unaware, their return flight was cancelled until they arrived at the airport, then having no other choice to buy a seat at an inflated price!

Budget operators Ryanair and Easyjet fortunately, do not use this tactic.
